Turški notranji minister Sulejman Sojlu je povedal, da je potres prizadel vsaj 10 mest: Gaziantep, Kahramanmaras, Hatay, Osmaniye, Adiyaman, Malatya, Sanliurfa, Adana, Diyarbakir in Kilis.
Tresenje tal so čutili tudi v Libanonu in na Cipru, nekaj minut pozneje pa je sledil še popotresni sunek.
